Meet the Baker

Cua Vang

Founder

Hello! I’m Cua (pronounced chu-uh) Vang, Hmong American, 20 years old, born and raised here in Des Moines IA, and ran Rosechu for over 3 years under the name you may fondly remember as “Cua’s Keki”. I began my journey by baking a cake for my sister's baby shower when I was just 14 years old (2018). Since then, I acquired a high interest in baking by learning the art, the science and refining my skills. Decorative baking is something that I have always loved since I was a young girl, and everyday I’m continuing to learn more about this special art with a delicious medium. As the youngest daughter of 13, I have always dreamed of success through entrepreneurship to make my family proud and to make a difference in other’s lives no matter how big or small.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with friends and family, attend K-pop concerts, and overdress for any occasion! I love cute things and I feel that my desserts reflect on that with its soft colors, detailed decorations and light flavors. I love being a part of people’s big and small events and knowing that my desserts can be a reason people smile. I am so very thankful to everyone that has supported my journey and strive to bring delicious, beautiful desserts to everyone in my area.

Rosechu’s Mascot

Rosie

Say hello to Rosie, Rosechu’s mascot. Rosie is a calm and joyful bear that loves all things fruits and flowers. She shows up on all of your dessert boxes to ensure the best taste and prettiness of your delicious sweets. Rosie’s name comes from the word “Rosaceae”: the rose family, consisting of over 4,000 known species. Examples you may be familiar with are the Rose, Peach, Strawberry, Apple, Almond, Plum, Raspberry, Cherry, and Nectarine, as well as many beautiful flowers. She believes that fruit is the best way to counter the over-sweetness in desserts, which is why Rosechu’s menu features many fruit-filled options. You will often find her face in Holiday and Seasonal Dessert Boxes, usually in new accessories or cosplaying as a fruit herself. Make sure you don’t miss her!
