What constitutes a "custom" cake?

A custom cake is any type of cake that goes above the design of a plain frosted cake. This includes special decorations, specific cake designs, tiers, custom layers, etc.*

How do I order?

Please click the “BOOK EVENT” button in the top right corner of this page (for desktop users// for mobile users, tap on the two lines and tap “BOOK EVENT”). This button will lead you to another page that will ask you questions about your desired dessert. Please fill it out with as much detail as you can. Cua will then contact you via email within 3 days. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER FOR EMAILS. Once in contact, we will discuss your needs. Please allow 1-3 business days for responses. Please make sure to view the AVAILABILITY NOTE for any unavailable dates and help to choose your date. All orders need to be FINALIZED AT LEAST 10 DAYS before the pickup date. That means communication needs to be made prior to a successful order. Last-minute orders (10 days or less) will either be declined or include a late fee of $50 and last-minute additions to the order will be declined or added at an additional cost. I require full payments for orders under $200 and a 50% non-refundable deposit on all orders over $200. More info on this is down below.

AVAILABILITY:

Rosechu is currently only available for pickups/ delivery on Saturday mornings. We work on a weekly routine and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. All desserts can last in the fridge for up to 5 days (3 days maximum for fruit-filled desserts). But for any event later than 5 days, it is recommended to be frozen until the day before the event. In these cases, please allow your cake to thaw in the fridge the day before your event.

I recommend booking at least a month before pickup but this does not guarantee availability. If your desired date is unavailable, Cua will notify you during the email process and do her best to get you a date that ensures your cake is still fresh! Please note that some dates will be completely unavailable if orders are placed last minute or do not comply with AVAILABILTY.

I found a picture of a cake I like online, can you make the exact same one?

I can make a custom cake that goes around the theme of the character and/or cake picture, but not an exact replica of the picture. All cakes made by me are unique to my specific cake style. I will happily use the photo for inspiration and create a sketch of your cake if wanted. I do not use pictures of copyrighted characters (i.e. Disney characters, cartoons, public figures) on my cakes unless specified but you are welcome to mail me your own toys/figurines to put on the cake as decoration in advance. This includes plastic cake toppers, figurines, etc. Please discuss this with me during the consultation portion to ensure figurine sizing’s correct. I also happily purchase cake toppers for clients if it is decided that the client wants one and would prefer I do the work on that portion.

How do I determine the price and size of my cake?

All of our custom cakes are priced on an individual basis, so we will work with you to figure out your serving count and budget. Base and general estimate prices of cakes and macarons are listed on the GALLERY page but are not limited to those numbers. Please note that customizing your cake to its full potential is what adjusts the final price of your cake and this price can change at any time during the consultation period. All price changes will be discussed and once the final price is stated with payment, that price will remain the same unless there is an added last-minute change to the order. This may include last-minute delivery and set-up costs, changes to fillings or flavors, changed designs, added elements, etc. All major guidelines for sizing and servings of cakes are listed on the MENU page but feel free to ask more questions during the consultation period if this is a major concern.

ALL CUSTOM CAKES START AT $85. Expect any range from $85 to $300+ for any non-tiered cake.

What are creative freedom cakes?

Creative freedom cakes are cakes designed by Cua personally and are a great option for people that are on a tighter budget or are wanting to be surprised with the decorations of a cake. The client will decide on the flavor and size to determine to price. The outside look of the cake then allows for my creative freedom and lets me design what would look the very best for your event. I will ask for certain preferences such as the event type (not theme), favored color palettes, and comments on what to avoid (such as allergies). In the end, the cake they receive is at a higher retail value than the amount the client paid for. Please state “creative freedom cake” in the description portion of the order form. Please also note that creative freedom cakes have no specific rules and are only to be ordered with an open mind. Rosechu will not consider a request with inspirational pictures or specific themes as a creative freedom cake.

What types of payment options do I have?

I accept online payments via credit or debit which will be discussed during the email consultation period. All payments will be sent in through emailed invoices.

Is there a deposit?

All orders under $200 must be paid in full to secure your order. Orders over $200 will need a 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm your order.

How to cancel my order?

We understand that sometimes, things do not go as planned. Because of this, for any orders canceled 10 days prior to the pick-up date, your payment is 50% refundable (invoiced amount, taxes not included). For any orders canceled within 10 days of the pickup date, the deposit is non-refundable. Please keep in mind that Rosechu is a one person team. Due to the handcrafted and pre-planned nature of our products, we are unable to provide full refunds or exchanges to custom orders.

Do you offer delivery?

I currently offer delivery and/or set up at an extra cost determined by distance. Pickup address location and timing will be discussed individually after orders are placed. Pricing for delivery and/or setup can vary anywhere from $30 to up to $70 for a 30-mile radius of Des Moines Iowa and can vary to up to $250 for large outer Iowa events such as wedding venues, grand birthday parties, etc.

Refund Policy:

Though at Rosechu, we do all that we can to make our client’s happy with the best looking and tasting cakes in the area, mistakes can be made. However, due to the nature of custom items and handmade items, we can only provide 50% refunds for dissatisfactions on our desserts. These dissatisfactions ONLY include wrong flavors, wrong sizing (width), and major dissatisfactions with the taste of the cake (cakes with tasting dissatisfaction must be returned to Rosechu with less than 1/4 eaten). Any requests for dissatisfaction must be made within 48 hours of pickup. Please keep in mind that with handmade products, no two cakes will look the same and refunds requested due to decorating style, color shade or general decoration design will not be honored. Please make sure to be as informative as possible during the Ordering and Communication process of your Custom Order to avoid any possible conflicts about decorations.

Please remember that we are not responsible for desserts once they leave the Kitchen and into your hands. Cakes should always be placed on car floors(not seats!) and with AC blasting the entire way home, then directly into the fridge.
